Hello everyone (Dàjiā hǎo), welcome to Bennysland, my name is Benny (wǒ jiào Benny). I am from Shanghai, (wǒ shì Shànghǎirén) and I am YOUR mandarin teacher. In Bennysland, we like to do things differently and so we call our lessons “experiences”, for lessons in life are all learned through individual experiences. The purpose of creating Bennysland is to help people break down the barriers of learning Mandarin.

From my experience in teaching, I‘ve realized that the best way of learning Mandarin is NOT by going to the traditional language schools. The teaching method they usually use is ineffective, spoon-fed. Learning a language should be interactive. I've met a lot of foreigners with the same question--- why is it that after learning Mandarin for a significant amount of time, I still can't communicate with the locals? How come? Am I doing something wrong?

Let me tell you why! YES, you are on the long and hard road because of the system that has been taught to you. The best way of teaching is to make it simple, practical and fun! This is the best way and THE BENNY'S WAY! I’ll teach you what YOU want to know! Are you ready to Rock & Roll? Before that I need you to do 3 things to make sure that you get the most out of your first experience:

  1. Don't worry about the grammar!

  2. Throw away your books!

  3. Just trust me and tell yourself that Mandarin is not difficult!

Today’s experience is about Greeting people in Chinese, Here are some basic words of greeting.

you

hǎo

nǐ hǎo

你好

B: wǒ hěn hǎo.

This is the most common way to greet people in China. And let’s learn some other basic introduction.

No

Shì, wǒ shì Benny.

是,我是Benny

Bù shì, wǒ bù shì Benny.

No, I am not Benny.

We u
se these 2 words everyday! Ok, the last thing we learn today is a sentence which you can use for the first time you meet someone.

FOR EXAMPLE:

Hěn gāoxìng rènshi nǐ.

Nice to meet you.

When it is time to go, you say:
