Ni hao trinity!

Unlike English, there is no plurality for noun in Mandarin. So we use “men” to change a personal pronoun to be plural. Just take a look at following words, you’ll understand:

wo = I/me

wo men = we/us

ni = you

ni men = you (plurality)

ta = he/she

ta men = they/them

Dear Benny!
You site is absolutely extra! Merci beaucoup (thx a lot in french ^^)

I just have a question. This lessons are made for foreigners to improve their speaking mandarin and will help them rapidly to survive in the streets…it’s obvious!
However, what about writting and reading? Pinying is not used in china after primary school…so should we worry about that? and how to improve the reading and writting?

Thank you in advance for your answer.
Yann (fan of this experimental site)

Ni hao! YANN. Good question!

From my teaching experience, most of foreigners prefer able to speak and listen first, which help them “survive” in China. But of course reading and writing are also very important. At this stage, we don’t offer speical course for reading and writing on our website, but it will definitely be provided in the future! First of first, I want foreigners to learn Mandarin in an easy and fun way, thus they will have strong interest about learning the language, which is the best teacher.

If you have any questions, including reading and writing of Mandarin, just ask me or my Angels! We’d love to help, because we are “Ask Benny”!!

“Merci beaucoup” for your prompt answer Benny! That’s exactly the way i am learning mandarin too…but i hope to learn how to read and write someday. SO we will see how you and your angles will deal with this part later. ;)
Thanks one again.
Later…

Yann

Lately there has been a problem connecting to youtube. I live in China and some web addresses seem to be blocked here. Do you know how I can connect to youtube? Or is there another place where I can listen to your lectures?

As far as I know Jessica, that’s just one of those things that you have to memorize. bu is used a lot more often than mei, so when in doubt go with bu. Otherwise, begin to memorize where to use bu (ie. bu yao) and where to use mei (ie. mei you). good luck!
