benny ni hao, i want to ask, can the word yuan4 (愿) be used alone without the need of other words to support it?
Another thing i would like to ask is that are there any rules/constraints to use either zai4 (在) or zhe (著)? or are they completely interchangeable? Can i say something like xue2 xi2 zhe?

 | | | | Hi Henry, Very good questions, first of all “yuàn愿” can’t be used alone in most cases, especially in oral form. As for “zai and zhe” they are different for usages, though they both have the meaning of “present tense”. The rules are: Verb+ zhe/ zài + Verb also “zài” has another meaning of “to be at/ in” for example: nǐ zài Shanghai ma? = Are you in Shanghai? Let me know if you have any questions:) Benny
