ni hao benny! wo men you jian mian le

1) can the word zao4 (造) be used for emotion case? like for example, if i wanna say “why do you make her sad” , can it be something like “ni zen me zao ta bu kai xin?” The reason i ask this is because in cantonese, it is not wrong to use zao4 in this case so i am curious for the same case in mandarin

2) How to say ‘dream’ in the following sentences:

i) people normally dream when they sleep
ii) My dream is to be a pilot
iii) you must be dreaming

Thank you for your time

Henry, as far as I know. “zao” is the meaning of “to build”. not to make. If you want to say “make somebody ….” you have to use “rang4” which means “to let”

Also “dream” in your sentence should be 1) zuo4 meng4. 2) meng4 xiang3. 3) zuo4 meng4

Need to be confirmed with Benny
