Hi Benny
Can you do an experience on counting words? I find I am always tempted to say, “zhe ge” instead of the right word. I know some basic ones like “zhe ben shu” or “zhe zhi gou” but how about some other examples of others!

ni hao, Greg. Let me give some basci counting words,

yī běn shū = a book 一本书

yī zhāng zhǐ = a piece of paper 一张纸

yī piàn miàn bāo = a piece/ slice of bread 一片面包

yī zhī māo/ gǒu = a cat/ dog (“zhi” is used for animal) 一只猫/狗

yī zhī bǐ = a pen(same pronunciation but defferent character, it’s used for pen) 一支笔

yī píng shuǐ = a bottle of water 一瓶水

yī bēi shuǐ = a cup/ glass of water 一杯水

yī guàn kě lè = a can of Coke 一罐可乐

yī tǒng shuǐ = a pail of water 一桶水

yī kuài dàn gāo/ qiǎo kè lì = a bar of chocolate/ cake 一块巧克力/蛋糕

yī wǎn mǐ fàn/ tāng = a bowl of rice/ soup 一碗米饭/汤

yī tái diàn nǎo = a computer/TV 一台电脑/电视机

I can read all the pin yin, but what about the tone, better yet, chinese character? Dou xie
