Let me know what you think.

Here’s the previous letter:

I am learning chinese through your website. It’s been exciting and challenging. For me some of the hardest sounds to make is nu with two dots above it and lu with two dots above it in the 3rd tone. One of the words that contain that sound is the word for woman. Kevin is chinese and he must have repeated that sound to me 30 or more and I still haven’t got it. Can you help me to pronounce it better? Any english words come close to those sounds? Can you also go through the letters of the pinyin alphabet and pronounce letters of the alphabet the way it is in Chinese?

Need to know some other words in chinese:

to make .i.e. you make me feel excited.,
to love,
compassionate
because of you
lovely
kind
gentle
gracious
humility
you are beautiful i.e. (in the heart)
tender hearted

It’s also been challenging reading just the pinyin to make sure that I am saying the proper tone. One example as I was working on NU with two dots above it in the 3rd tone, I said it wrong and Kevin said I was saying the word for ox! I appreciate your teaching and experiences.

God bless you my friend,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I think the best way is to talk to you online if you have skype, it makes a lot easier to explain the pronounciation.

My skype is bennyfeng808

For the “ü” sound as in “woman” I will give you this tip:

- Your lips should be shaped as if you wanted to say a normal “u”, while your tongue should be willing to do an “i” sound.

You can start by saying an “yiiiii” and closing your lips to match a “u” while your tongue remains the same.

Good luck!
