hi benny!!! I’m a big fan of your lessons!!! They really make Mandarin easier to understand!!! I’ve also heard “bu guo” being translated to “but” in English. What does it really mean? When do you use it? Thanks.

greenace8, thank you so much. Actually there are 3 ways to say “but” in Chinese, they are:

1. dàn shì = but

2. kě shì = but

3. bú guò = but

They all have the same meaning.

bu guo can also translated to "though"in English.like “I don’t like the color though”
