However, people who speak mandarin tend to write simplified chinese, and cantonese people write in traditional chinese. simplified chinese resembles traditional chinese but, as it says in the name, simplifies certain words to make it easier to write. traditional chinese has a longer history but is slowly being dropped my many chinese. |  |  |
