Hi mr. Benny,

Could you teach me the word for “about” in Mandarin? “The book is about a Chinese man.” “What is the movie about?” “I’m talking about him.” “It is about 2 hrs from here.” “It’s about 190cms.”

Hi Tina,

In Chinese about is “guān yú”. For example:

zhè běn shū shì guān yú….. = This book is about…

zhè bù diǎn yǐng shì guān yú…. = This movie is about….

But “talk about = tán lùn”, no need to add "about“

As for “about 2 hrs or about 190cms” is “dà yuē which means approximately”

Benny
