benny/jenny, dont mind explaining on how to use ‘zhe’?. My friend said that it is to show that an action is in progress.. so something like du2 zhe (reading) or xue2 xi2 zhe (studying) ?
How to say the word ‘next’ ? for instant:
I am sitting next to you?
thanks in advance :)

| | Benny the Mandarin Teacher bennysland.com 2008-04-02 / 09:35PM | | Hi Henry, your friend is correct with the explaination of “zhe”
Next to in Chinese we say: “zài…páng biàn” for example:
wǒ zuò zài nǐ páng biān = I am sitting next to you
